Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for reinventing herself throughout her career and for her versatility in numerous areas of the entertainment industry.

Gaga began performing as a teenager, singing at open mic nights and acting in school plays. She also regularly auditioned for New York-based television shows, and landed a background role for a 2001 episode of the highly successful show The Sopranos episode The Telltale Moozadell, where she played a high school student. She studied at Collaborative Arts Project 21, through New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, before dropping out to pursue a music career.

Stefani’s acting not finished, she was also cast as a lead in the 2015-2016 season of American Horror Story: Hotel, winning a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Elizabeth. Gaga played a witch named Scathach in American Horror Story: Roanoke, the series’ sixth season in 2016.
